Our story
Back in 2020, we began our journey at a time when many startups globally were trying to solve carbon management challenges for companies.
However, we wanted to do things differently from the outset. There was already an endless race towards growth and value at any cost, and we didn’t want to build Furthr that way. The ambition was to create a carbon management service with service genuinely at its core, which meant taking the time to truly understand the challenges companies were actually facing and exactly where software could help with carbon management and reporting.
We therefore decided to begin where others didn’t, tackling the hard challenge of employee engagement and helping organisations make sustainability more accessible and engaging across their workforce. This gave us the opportunity to work closely with organisations and, importantly, to understand the realities of managing sustainability programmes from the inside.

Our story

This gave us the opportunity to work closely with organisations and, importantly, to understand the realities of managing sustainability programmes from the inside.
Why Furthr?
Over the next years, we got closer and closer to organisations across different sectors and territories - from multinationals to SMEs. We listened to what they needed, where software was genuinely useful and where it wasn’t, and the challenges that couldn’t be solved by technology alone.
We learned that every organisation is different. They have different data, systems, processes, stakeholders and priorities, and they need more than another piece of software to make meaningful progress on carbon reporting decarbonisation.
So, in 2022, we launched our suite of best-in-class carbon management tools and services, built from the bottom up around what we had learned. Since then, we’ve grown into a leading carbon management service and embedded sustainability partner, supporting organisations across more than 40 sectors and 20 jurisdictions.

Henry Bishop founded Furthr in 2018, with the belief that most people care deeply about their environment.
More than that, people are actually willing to make changes to create a better quality of life for everyone - they just don't always know where to start.

Our mission
Our approach has stayed the same. We believe technology works best when it is backed by experts who take the time to understand the challenges and are genuinely there to help. That means working around your existing systems and ways of working, adapting to what you need and providing hands-on support as your programme develops.
Over time, we’ve built long-term relationships with our customers based on trust, flexibility and a shared commitment to making progress. For us, that’s what a carbon management service should be.

Henry Bishop
Founder & CEO
After years working in the consulting world at Accenture, Henry co-founded Furthr in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, to help individuals and businesses to do more on their journey to net zero.
He believes nature and biodiversity preservation can engage stakeholders and should take the place they greatly deserve in corporate sustainability.

James Fairclough
Chair of the Board
James Fairclough is a portfolio Angel investor and advisor to disruptive start-up and scale-up businesses and their Founders. He is Non-Executive Chair of Kindred, Furthr and Settlement Agreement Solicitors.
In addition to his work as Trustee at Children in Need, he has been a trustee of Leukaemia UK since 2018.
Crawford Hollingworth
Non-Executive Director
Crawford is a behavioural change expert and Fellow of the Marketing Society, the Market Research Society and the Royal Society of Arts.
He is the Global Chairman and Co-Founder of The Behavioural Architects. His book, 'How Your Brain is Wired', written with Cathy Tomlinson, which should be on everyone’s reading list!
